Low Calorie Food and Drinks aren't recommended for our kids
« on: August 08, 2007, 12:36:26 PM »

Another new study today about overweight kids.

The researchers are saying that by feeding young children low calorie food and drinks to keep them at a healthy weight, we may be may inadvertently contribute to overeating and even childhood obesity.

They think that calorie-wise foods that taste the same as their full-calorie counterparts may undermine the body's natural ability to regulate food intake and weight.

Instead of giving our kids diet colas as a replacement for a regular soda, we shouldn't be giving them any soda at all.

The researchers said one of the worst times for kids to pack in far too many calories is when they come home famished after school.  This is the time we should have healthy foods on hand - such as vegetables, fruits or salad.

Isn't it crazy how many moms give their little ones soda in a bottle these days!  I just can't believe it!  I heard there is really an epidemic of kids with cavities in their baby teeth.   Sad
